CARTOONING & GRAPHIC NOVELS

In this workshop, you will be instructed and guided by an expert cartoonist & illustrator. You will be guided through the design and creation of your own cartoon or graphic novel.

Winthrop Prince has a BFA in illustration from the Academy of Art College in S.F. His work has appeared in nationally syndicated newspapers. He has received awards from the East Bay Watercolor Society and magazines.
MASK MAKING IN THE MEXICAN TRADITION

Are you fascinated by the Mexican style of mask making? Would you like to learn more about their cultural heritage & how to create a Papier Mache mask?

THE ANCIENT ART OF ORIGAMI

In this course , you will learn the ancient art of paper folding . You will be able to construct, cranes, fish , dragons & boxes. The class is open to arists of all ages.

The Art Passages Show - Digital Art - The Power of the Pixel
Where Fine Art, Oral Language & Cultures Meet

Location: The Art Passages Windows
2055 Center Street in downtown Berkeley.
In each session , your students will be guided through an educational art experience by our ed. coordinator. They will view the art exhibit & discuss the topics in the art passages windows such as Digital Art as presented in the artworks of the art windows. A follow up class will involve the students in an oral & written language workshop in your classroom. A Gallery workshops is also available to your school and students.
The tour, written & art workshops are free to schools in the Bay Area.
Instructor : LaWanda Ultan is a potter and sculptor.
In this pottery workshop, you will learn to construct pots on a wheel. You will also learn how to fire and glaze your work. Classes are held at LaWanda's studio.

Puppetry and Storytelling -Creating Puppets & Writing Stories
Instructor: Marge Essel
This class will show you how to draw in pencils & paint in acrylics. You will create hand puppets, finger puppets, sock puppets and many other types. Your family will produce as written story as your script for the puppet show that you will all present. You will also learn to give voice to your characters. We may even film it . We can also do scenery for it.
Sessions: Wednesdays 6-8 P.M. April 5, 12, 19, 2017.
Fee: 85.00 for 4 classes plus $10.00 for materials.
Marge Essel is an exhibiting artists & a credentialed teacher. She has created puppets for the Lovelace Marionette Theater and done costuming and design for their actors as well. She has also created dance costumes.

This class will be taught by a different guest exhibiting artist every 2 weeks. Children will learn crafts from Origami, ceramics, and recycled fun.

This class explores traditional fine arts mediums while teaching the fundamentals of art. Artistic vocabulary will be taught with visual demonstrations of techniques & practices.

Arlene Streich is an exhibiting artist and a credentialed teacher. She is a painter . She also creates beautiful pieces of hand molded and fired glass jewelery pieces . She has taught in many arts programs throughout the Bay Area.
All materials are provided for children. Instructors are arist that exhibit with Expressions Gallery and are proffessionals in their area of expertise.
THE ART OF DESIGNING & MAKING A FAMILY QUILT-

In this workshop, you will learn how to design & create a family quilt. You will learn drawing, designing working with fabrics , layout a quilt and how to sew by hand and machine.
